Reddit Karma is one of the most important concepts on Reddit, but it can be confusing for newcomers. This guide explains everything you need to know about Reddit Karma.
What is Reddit Karma?
Reddit Karma is a reputation system that measures your contribution to the Reddit community:

- Total karma: Sum of both post and comment karma
- Reputation indicator: Shows your value to the community
How Karma Works
Earning Karma
You earn karma when users upvote your content:

- Upvote on comment: +1 comment karma (approximately)
- Downvote: -1 karma (approximately)
- Net score: Upvotes minus downvotes
Karma Calculation
Reddit's karma calculation is complex:
- Not exactly 1:1 with upvotes
- Weighted by various factors
- Prevents manipulation
- Approximate representation
